| Bio: | | Real Estate is actually a second career for me. After four years in the Air Force (almost all in Germany), I earned a Batchelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and an additional Batchelor's Degree in German from Montana State University and went to work for Motorola in Scottsdale in the aerospace industry. After three years as a design engineer, I concluded that I was really a people person and not a laboratory engineer. I was fortunate to be able to leverage my language skills and obtain a transfer to Motorola's Semiconductor Division in Phoenix as a Sales Engineer for their fledgling export operation. High technology is intoxicating, with huge contracts, world travel, rubbing elbows with the industry elite, etc. The downside was that I was away from my family a lot.
After 14 years in the semiconductor business, one of my clients in the computer business hired me to sell computer systems. One thing led to another and I spent 14 years as a sales engineer in the computer aided design (CAD) business. Again, a very exciting field to work in and the trips were shorter and all within the lower 48. This industry literally imploded once personal computers were robust enough to handle the CAD software. I found myself 54 years old and unemployed. Our children were out of college, married, and on their own. At that point my wife and I decided to move to Prescott Valley and find something else to do with our lives. I can't say the move was without trepidation.
I earned my real estate license in 1989 and worked for several local brokerages for four years. Meanwhile, I had earned my Broker's license in 1993. My wife and I would often discuss the shortsighted approach to the real estate business that most offices pursued. The management side of the business was often looked upon with a jaundiced eye. We felt that a company should offer all typical real estate services. We formed CMA in December of 1994 with myself and one other licensee doing listing and sales only. By August of 1995 we felt we were ready to plunge into property management after doing considerable research. In 1998, we took on HOA management. As it turns out all three businesses feed each other and are very complimentary to each other.
Eleven years later CMA is a company of 28 people and has grown steadily each year and has been in the black every year. Apparently we must have done several things right. We feel we were able to grow and prosper because of a company commitment to courtesy and service to our clients and customers. We still have management clients that chose us in 1995. Some of our sales clients go back to 1990 and 1991. Perfect--no, but like a certain auto rental firm, we aim to try harder (and do so). We would like a chance to be your Realtor and/or Property Management. We don't think you'll be sorry. |
